LI woman sentenced for craigslist harassment of 9-year-old

Mother Sentenced In Craigslist Retaliation Post:

I originally posted about 41-year-old Margery Tannenbaum of Hauppauge, New York here. She was arrested back in May of 2009 for posting an explicit ad on craigslist designed to harass a 9-year-old girl that was having a dispute with Tannenbaum’s daughter.

Recently she was sentenced on harassment charges to a year probation, 35 hours of community service, and will have to undergo psychiatric treatment.

I’m sure the ad was posted in the casual encounters section and as we all know harassment ads in that section can lead to not just harassment but violent crimes as well. The section serves no real purpose except for deviants trying to live out their sick fantasies or for prostitution ads. It cries out to be removed or at least moderated which again is not impossible.

San Antonio woman harassed after posting craigslist ad

Online pervert offers money to take little girls’ pictures:

A woman in San Antonio claims she’s being harassed by one of the most creepy dudes I’ve ever heard of after she posted an ad on craigslist.

In the ad she was selling old toys and old clothes from her 7 and 9-year-old daughters. Instead of getting someone who wants to buy the items she got a rather unusual response to say the least.

“He’s like, I want to take pictures of your daughters’ stomachs in mid-drift shirts with their jeans, or while eating McDonalds,” explained the mother. “He was very specific.”

She even goes as far to say that the creep said a woman let him photograph her 4-year-old with her pants undone and that this is nothing sexual. Nothing sexual my ass. You’d be amazed at what some dregs consider sexual. This guy makes furries look perfectly wholesome.

Could this happen on any classifieds site? Theoretically yes it could however it seems like strange requests like this pop up on craigslist more frequently.

I’m reminded of the handyman who placed an ad for his services and he mentioned that he was trying to feed his kids. Instead of being hired for his services he was approached by a pedophile who wanted sex with his children.

It just seems like there is an inordinate amount of these cretins on craigslist. When you have a casual encounters section where requests like this are commonplace sometimes these predators will seep into the other sections if they can’t find what they want.

Craigslist hate mail after Spanish listings:

Not really a crime but close enough so I’m going to count it.

Anyway in Midwest City, Oklahoma a garage owner posted a job for a mechanic on craigslist. He posted it in both English and Spanish. That’s not some political agenda, that’s just good business sense. This is where craigslist’s ‘community policing’ comes into play. The ads in Spanish were flagged and removed from the site. When the garage owner tried reposting the Spanish ads he then got hate mail.

“Go home, bean. Go back to Mexico. We speak English here in America so we don’t want you here,”

Not only does this show the uselessness of website community policing it also shows the kind of troglodytes that frequent craigslist so much they lose sleep over ads in Spanish.

I’m sure Spanish ads are quite welcome on Geebo.com.

Woman pleads guilty to craigslist harassment

Graphic Craigslist ad leads to guilty plea:

A woman from York Haven, Pennsylvania was sentenced to community service and a mental health evaluation after pleading guilty to posting a harassing craigslist ad.

In a fit of anger the woman posted an ad on craigslist, probably the casual encounters section, soliciting sex listing her friend’s phone number on the ad. The victim received a slew of explicit text messages.

You may think this is funny and cute and not a big deal but ‘pranks’ like this have led to sexual assaults and rapes have been orchestrated by ads like this on craigslist.

It is possible to screen ads so that things like this are far less likely to happen. Try Geebo.com, where they screen all their ads before they are ever posted on their site.

More craigslist hook up extortion

Police: Craigslist companionship turned into extortion:

As I’ve mentioned before you really shouldn’t hook up with strangers on craigslist, especially if you’re married. Several bad things can happen to you if you do and in this case it was extortion.

27-year-old Amber Louise McGovern of Eugene, Oregon was arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from a married man after they hooked up on craigslist. Police say that she was a kept woman for a while but when the guy said he was cutting her off she threatened to reveal the relationship to his wife.

Don’t think that the guy has gotten off the hook either. I’m sure he had as lot to explain to his wife.

Anyway, police believe that McGovern may have had more victims and that she has used the aliases of Amber Dawn and Amber Swope.

Woman gave away neighbor’s trailer on craigslist

Woman sold neighbor’s trailer on craigslist:

Since CCL is its own full time blog again I can’t slack off on the little stories anymore.

Anyway, 29-year-old Vanessa Kimball of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, which as well all know is made completely out of butter, has been arrested in grand theft charges.

It seems that she was upset with a neighbor’s trailer in the apartment complex’s parking lot, so she allegedly listed it for free on craigslist. Of course someone came and picked it up. The trailer was returned but the owner says it was returned damaged.

Again of craigslist removed the perceived notion of anonymity from its site, which is just one of the many things that should be removed, neighbor pissing matches would be just one of the crimes that would be quelled on its pages.

Asheville man charged with online extortion:

58-year-old Michael Harvey Oakley of Asheville, North Carolina has been charged with trying to extort money from a man who posted a personal ad on craigslist.

The article doesn’t say what kind of personal ad it was but let’s take a look at the circumstantial evidence. First the ad was posted in Ashville which is also called the Berkeley of the south. The personal ad was placed by a man and answered by another man. Oakley is accused of threatening to reveal sensitive personal information if his demands were not met.

It wouldn’t be unrealistic to think that the victim was possibly cruising on craigslist. If the victim does it fact lead a closeted gay lifestyle then that is his choice. However this is just one of the many risks people run by cruising for anonymous sex, gay or straight, on craigslist.

And just out of curiosity since I’m not a member of the gay community if I have any gay readers I’d like to know your opinion on this practice. I understand that there are people who are closeted or on the down low so to speak but I’d like to hear your opinion on this in general.

St. Louis man accused of Craigslist blackmail scheme:

You don’t hear a lot about blackmail these days outside of bad TV shows. It’s an underrated crime. It has such a cool name. Too bad it’s one of the more stupid crimes you could commit. It’s a 50/50 chance that the victim will just turn and go to the police.

For instance take 26-year-old Ethan Mikeal Avalos of St. Louis, MO. He’s accused of blackmailing a medical professional who had a few paid craigslist liaisons if you know what I mean.

The victim paid $3500 the first time and paid a total of $8K. That’s where the scheme usually goes wrong. Once you score and get away with it do not keep going back to the well because the victim will eventually either go broke or get sick of your ass. That’s when they usually go to police.

I’m not too broken up for the ‘victim’ in this case either. If you kept it zipped you wouldn’t have been in this kind of situation.

Second Craigslist “Group Sex” Bust:

The ‘Soccer Mom Group Sex’ phony craigslist ad story keeps getting better even if the term ‘better’ is relative at this point.

We do know now that Philip Conran was the man who placed the ad because he was feuding with his neighbors. Still no word on what the feud was about but Conran seems like a bitter unemployed man. While the two aren’t mutually exclusive he seems to fit that profile in my opinion.

However what I want to talk about is the dyslexic craigslist pervert who assaulted a girl at the wrong house, Richard Zeh. (pictured)

According to he police report provided to the public generously by The Smoking Gun Zeh told police that…

that the button on his shorts had “fallen off” and that his “pubic hair and his erect penis could have been sticking out of his pants” when he walked into the teenager’s residence.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that his dyslexia didn’t have dick to do with the assault. Pun intended.

Man Charged With Posting Fake Craigslist Soccer Mom Sex Ad:

Remember the fake craigslist ad advertising group sex with a soccer mom that led to bored dyslexic pervert Richard Zeh to assault an 18-year-old girl?

The man who allegedly placed the ad has been caught and he is 42-year-old Philip Conran of Newington, Conn.

He is an unemployed chef who may also be behind 2 other phony sex ads on craigslist.

Conran turned himself in and allegedly confessed to police.

No word on what the motive was yet.
