Ok, here it is. I’ve been asking you to stay tuned until Monday and now Monday is here. Today is your chance to win a free craigscrimelist t-shirt emblazoned with the motto “Friends don’t let friends use craigslist.” But…wait for it…only one is being given away this week.

As before the rules are simple. Please comment on this post why you are boycotting craigslist or why you don’t use craigslist in the first place or why you think it’s a bad idea to use craigslist.

Please use the e-mail address you would like to be contacted at in the e-mail address field.

If you have entered before and have not won you can enter on this and future posts as well.

This contest will end 8pm Eastern Time next Monday (8/30/2010) but there will be more chances to win shirts in the coming weeks.

Take a stand. Do the right thing. And you might win a shirt in the process.

It also wouldn’t hurt if you could retweet this post or put in on Facebook.

Ah, CraigsList, how do I count the ways? The reasons I boycott you? At first, it was simply because it was so hard to find what I wanted, such a pain to drill down, and so many of the ads didn’t even have photos — requiring me to call them or email or something. It just looked smarmy to me. I much preferred to do my shopping on eBay, where I could see a seller’s performance rating. I loved the ability to “watch” items, and it was so much easier to find the best price. So, poor usability and no way to judge the sellers before buying were my two main reasons for never using CraigsList.
Fast forward a few years, and I started hearing so many stories about criminals using CraigsList to find their next victims. I thought, “Ewww. I always new it was creepy. I knew it smelled bad.” And then, the sex crimes and sex trafficing reports started, and quickly started snowballing. The robberies and other such reports also seem to be snowballing, while Craig and his protege do nothing but cover their own asses.

I find it serendipitous that you mention the start of “Erotic Services” coincides with Buckner’s appointment as CEO. I am not one to judge people by their looks, but when you couple Buckner’s slimy sidestepping, dodging, and blame-shifting of the child trafficing issue with his creepy, sinister appearance — well, let me say, I have a feeling that Buckner is no stranger to the Sex Trade.

I will proudly wear my t-shirt, and I will proudly point people to CraigsCrimeList.com when they ask me why I wear the shirt. I’m sure a more than a few folks will say, “but it’s free! It’s great! I don’t have to pay to sell!” To them I will say, “Ask the young girls that are sold for sex on Craig’s List how free it truly it.”

I just finished reading the article about the police officer from Henderson, NV who was arrested for soliciting a prostitute on Craigslist. I find it amusing, considering one of my co-workers was just hired by that department and is moving there in less than 2 weeks. I can’t wait to show him how his future co-workers act. I just hope that people realize that not everyone in law enforcement is like that. There are some of us who actually want to do the job we were hired for, and there are bad seeds in every group, police included. Although most of it could be avoided if the people in charge of craigslist would do their job and monitor the ads that are put on there.

I just saw Amber Lyons piece and have some direct knowledge of the underage issue. I unlike many believe it is Amber Lyons function to ambush profiteers who exploit humans in the illegal service trades. Complaints that investigative journalist are to play fair, is like saying, undercover police should go under cover in uniform!

Investigating Craig’s List for what percentage is underage minors or forced sex are areas the federal government should investigate. Craig’s List at minimum is the facilitator and does so for profit. If a connection to Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua Mexico’s slave trade is made, then the CEO will have more than CNN and Amber to worry about.

Sex slaving is the USA rivals the drug trade. Drugs are consumed and not easily hidden. Sex slaves are invisible, easy to conceal by fear and intimidation and in one night, some can generate $4,000. or more. In a month $120,000. they don’t get weekends off! They are easy to smuggle and more than likely, easy to advertise if Craig’s List is the example!

My curiousity is the many defenders of Adult services and Craig’s List rights I read on the blogs, are they constitutionalist, or simply John’s? Do they have businesses that will be harmed, if Craig’s List Censors this catagory? Sounds like another story for Amber doesn’t it?

Its a “can of worms” that needed opening! The underage issue is very real and even in America some CEO’s have no SHAME as they worship the almight buck!
