Realtors Report Spike In ‘For Rent’ Scams:

Realtors in the central Indiana area are noticing a spike recently of their ads being copied for the craigslist rental scam.

Again how the scam works is the scam artists will copy a realtor’s ad for a property and place it on craigslist for rent at a ridiculously low price. They’ll then ask you to wire them the deposit and they say they’ll send you the keys. Except they don’t own the property and once you wire the money to them they disappear.

Never wire money to someone you don’t know.
