Sports reporter for N.H. paper allegedly ran prostitution ring:

50-year-old Kevin Provencher of Manchester, New Hampshire has been a sports reporter for the New Hampshire Union Leader for the past 23 years. The police in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and possibly Canada say that he’s been a craigslist and backpage pimp for an undisclosed amount of time.

Prosecutor Michelle Defeo said Provencher would rent a room in the hotel, then two women would arrive, followed by a steady flow of male visitors.

Provencher has been suspended by the paper pending the outcome of the situation.

Md. woman trafficked 3 teen girls from DC to NY:

I originally posted about Lea Bell here (3rd story down). Along with Byron Thompson the Reisterstown, Md. couple were federally indicted on sex trafficking charges for pimping out underage girls on craigslist.

Both of them have pleaded guilty. Thompson will be sentenced in October. No word on when Bell will be sentenced yet.

Since the feds are involved I hope they throw the book at them and make an example out of them.

Ex-Canyon County jail deputy gets a year in jail in sexual battery, prostitution case:

I could have sworn I’ve posted about this story before because you don’t forget a name like Hundersmarck but I can’t seem to find it.

Anyway 40-year-old Aaron Hundersmarck of Idaho was sentenced to 15 years behind bars with the judge saying he’ll have to serve one year before being eligible for parole.

Hundersmarck seems to have gotten himself a craigslist ‘masseuse’ who just happened to bring her underage daughter with her. Hundersmarck fondled the girl who was 16 at the time. He claimed that he thought the girl was 17 nearing her 18th birthday. I love how sex offenders try to justify their actions with idiotic explanations like that. It wouldn’t have mattered how close to 18th birthday she was. If she’s under 18 she’s under Idaho’s age of consent. Afterwords he contacted the girls mother asking if he could have sex with the girl. Even craigslist ‘masseuses’ must have their limits.

A year in jail for child molesters I would imagine are 365 days of hell. He’ll be lucky to make it to parole. But since he’s a former prison deputy he’ll probably be separated from general population.

Robber who escaped on inner tube gets six-year prison sentence:

Do you remember the story about the guy who used craigslist to dupe a bunch of people into being decoys while he robbed an armored car in Monroe, Washington? Sure you do. He’s also the guy who made his escape on an innertube down the Skykomish River.

He was caught back in November through DNA and witness accounts and I’m sure this dumbass move didn’t help him either…

After the robbery, Curcio went on shopping sprees, bought a Range Rover and took his buddies and a teenage mistress on a high-roller trip to Las Vegas.

Didn’t anybody learn anything from Joey Coyle?

Anyway, Curcio was sentenced to 6 years after pleading guilty in May.

Bond set for men charged in off-duty cop attack:

Two off duty police officers from Markham, Illinois saw a car for sale on craigslist that they were interested in. When they went to go look at the car they were allegedly jumped by Rodney Youngblood, 19, William Hall, 27, and Daryl McClure, 27. One of them held a gun to the female officer while the male officer was beaten with a bat. However that officer must have a pair of brass ones because the beating didn’t deter him from identifying himself as a police officer and shooting all three suspects.

All three suspects have survived (boo). But so have the officers (yay).

Not only is it like playing Russian Roulette when doing business on craigslist but so is committing crimes.

Officials say Craigslist is still selling sex:

Cook County, Illinois Sheriff Tom Dart says that he is not dropping his lawsuit against craigslist and that they are basically yanking his chain when it comes to their boasts about curbing prostitution on their site.

“It makes me wonder, do they really think I’m sort of stupid, some bobblehead who will think they changed it?” said Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, who sued the San Francisco-based company earlier this year, calling it the nation’s largest source of prostitution. “They seem to insist on being cute and playing games (and) it’s getting old.”

I would buy a Tom Dart bobblehead but I digress. He’s accusing craigslist of not providing him with the information he’s requested on how craigslist is monitoring the adult services section. Dart’s attorney says that since ‘the change’ the ads have become even more blatant with actual prices replacing the ‘requests for roses’.

Again while I agree with of Sheriff Dart’s accusations I have to wonder why in the interest of eliminating prostitution why he isn’t going after Village Voice Media owned backpage as well.

Chesapeake resident responding to Craigslist ad helps make arrest:

Portsmouth man arrested for trying to solicit teen online:

42-year-old William Russell Geister (pictured) of Portsmouth, Virginia is accused of posting an ad on craigslist seeking the ‘company’ of teenage, and I would assume underage, girls.

It wasn’t police that came across the ad though. It was a woman from Chesapeake, Virginia who noticed the ad and decided to contact Geister posing as a teen. The woman collected enough evidence from Geister that the Chesepeake were able to file solicitation charges against Geister. He may be facing additional charges as well.

Kudos, the chocolate kind, to the woman who decided to go after Geister. Not only did she help put a potential child molester away but she did it within the confines of the law.

And is it me or does Geister llok like your stereotypical child molester?

Police seek new victims of ‘polite’ Craigslist attacker:

Beaverton police ask rape victims to come forward:

Authorities in Beaverton, Oregon are looking for more victims of alleged craigslist rapist, 35-year-old Sean Evans Crawford.

Crawford has been indicted on rape charges. Police say that he met two women on craigslist and raped them on their first dates. The ‘polite’ part comes from that Crawford supposed acted nice and polite before and after the rapes and even calling the victim the next day saying that he had a good time and asking for another date.

That doesn’t sound like politeness to me. That’s sounds more like intimidation and arrogance.

The Beaverton Police Department suspects there might be more victims and are asking that they come forward by contacting the department at 503-526-2280.

SC AG asks judge to drop Craigslist lawsuit:

South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has asked a federal judge to dismiss the complaint filed against him by craigslist.

McMaster had previously threatened craigslist with prosecution for the prostitution ads on their site. Craigslist responded by filing a compliant against McMaster stating that McMatser’s threats violated craigslist’s constitutional rights.

While I don’t have a dog in this fight I’ve still haven’t heard if McMaster is going after backpage or if he’s even aware of their existence. They seem to be gaining on craigslist as be the country’s largest pimp.

Sheriff: Couple used Craigslist to rob man during massage:

30-year-old Kayla Lynn Evergetis (pictured) and 21-year-old Michael Anthony Parker were arrested on a pair of robbery charges in Columbia, South Carolina.

The one we’re interested in is one in which the pair put an ad on craigslist offering massages. While Evergetis was giving a man a massage *shudder* Parker allegedly stormed the room and robbed the man.

Again, if you use the less than legal service offered on craigslist you could be taking your life in your hands.
