BC teens being pimped out on craigslist

North Vancouver teens advertising sex for sale on Craigslist: RCMP:

The RCMP is reporting that girls as young as 16 from North Vancouver, British Columbia are being pimped out on craigslist. Some are prostituting themselves while others are being pimped out by guys in their 20s. Some are even advertising special rates for sex without a condom.

I can hear your questions already. But Trench, didn’t craigslist crack down on ads like this? They did but only in the U.S. In Canada it’s still wide open. I get the feeling however that if the RCMP keeps digging that may change in Canada.

Tualatin teens accused in theft ring:

Four teens in Tualatin, Oregon ranging in ages from 14 to 16 have been arrested for breaking into cars and trying to sell stolen electronics on craigslist. They allegedly stole over $12K in electronics. They’ve been released to their parents’ custody.

Police investigating Craigslist ad offering house full of goodies:

Police in San Antonio, Texas are investigating yet another ‘take everything in my house’ craigslist ad that turned out to be fake. Luckily the homeowners had an alarm system and nothing was taken. For the love of God people, just because something is posted on craigslist it doesn’t automatically make it true. Morons.

Job seekers victimized through Craigslist.org:

A job scam is going on where someone is posting an ad on craigslist for a company called Financial Planning Association of Nevada. The company is real but the ads aren’t. Applicants are asked to fill out information for a credit check which of course is probably to steal your personal information.

Garden City Police Use Craigslist to Make Arrest:

Police in Garden City, Idaho arrested Tracy Monday, aka Stormy, on charges of running an illegal massage business. She advertised on craigslist for full body rubs which according to police may have also included also included sex.

No offense, but I wouldn’t take a full body anything from her even if she paid me.

Man accused of posing as police officer, raping woman:

In what seems to be a recurring theme a man has been arrested, this time in Charlotte, NC, for impersonating a police officer in order to rape a woman who posted an ad on craigslist.

42-year-old Wayne Ford allegedly met a woman who posted an ad on craigslist at the Comfort Inn and Suites in the University section of Charlotte. When the woman opened the door Ford allegedly produced a gun and badge and told the woman that she would either consent to the assault or he would arrest her. That leads me to believe that the woman may have posted an ad on the adult services section.

Not only does Ford have a history of public indecency charges but he’s also been charged in a similar situation where a woman from craigslist was robbed in much the same manner. Being somewhat familiar with Charlotte’s revolving door jail I’m not surprised that Ford was out on the streets.

However this story should serve as a warning to the women who think that working through craigslist is safer than walking the streets. It isn’t.

Police in Norfolk, Virginia are looking for other victims of Shane R. Goettle. Goette was arrested for taking money for rental properties that he didn’t own.

Fremont man charged with impersonating cop, robbery and false imprisonment:

47-year-old unemployed plumber Timothy Johnston of Fremont, California has been arrested for impersonating an officer in order to rob a craigslist masseuse in San Jose, California. Police in Milpitas, California believe he may have used the same trick to sexually assault another craigslist masseuse.

Craigslist threats result in charges:

48-year-old Jeffrey A. Blaha of West Allis, Wisconsin was arrested for posting threats to the rants and raves section of Milwaukee craigslist. Apparently a local car ad was played so many times thatit set him off and he called for a sexual encounter that he suggested would put a stop to the TV ads. Not exactly sure what that means but I can imagine.

Joseph Brooks indicted for craigslist rapes

Oscar Winner Joseph Brooks Indicted For Rape:

I originally posted about Joe, now Joseph, Brooks here. He’s the guy who won an Oscar for writing the Debby Boone hit “You Light Up My Life”. If that wasn;t crime against humanity enough he was also arrested back in January for allegedly drugging and raping aspiring actresses that responded to his ad on craigslist.

Now Brooks has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for allegedly raping or sexual assaulting 11 women.

Also indicted was Brooks’ personal assistant Shawni Lucier for criminal facilitation for allegedly assisting Brooks in set up the assaults. Give that guy an A in lackeyness but an F for all around humanity.

FBI: Wash. pimp used Craigslist to advertise teens:

I originally posted about Toda Robinson here (3rd story down). He’s the man from Seatte, Washington who was arrested back in January for pimping out underage girls. Originally he was only facing charges in King County but back in April a federal grand jury handed down an indictment on child sex trafficking.

Hopefully he’ll go away for a long time and not get some slap on the wrist. Can we send him to Gitmo?

Prostitutes Change Tactics After Craigslist Tightens Restrictions:

It seems that craigslist’s new requirements to post to their adult services section is starting to have the desired effect, at least in San Diego. According to this great article from a local news station in SD prostitution ads on craigslist are down and the hookers are returning to the streets.

Now some people think that this is not a good thing. They’ll say things like that these girls will even be in more danger and things like that. I have a solution to that, these women don’t have to be hookers. They can walk away from it. And yes, it really is that simple.

Police: man advertised pot sales on Craigslist:

That befuddled looking man is 30-year-old Christopher Gray of Marlboro, Mass. He was busted in Quincy, Mass. for selling pot on craigslist.

His brilliant ad allegedly said “420 help is here. Give me a ring if you need some help.” Because obviously people who don’t smoke dope, like cops, have no idea what 420 means.

Philip Markoff indicted, enters plea

In a loud voice, Markoff pleads ‘not guilty’:

Philip Markoff, the accused killer of craigslist masseuse Julissa Brisman, was indicted on seven counts including first-degree murder. An emotionless Markoff entered a very vocal plea of not guilty.

Another detail that emerged today was that Markoff allegedly used the stolen driver’s license of a New York man to illegally purchase the gun that he used to kill Julissa Brisman. The man who the license belonged to is not believed to have any connection to the crime.

I wonder how his Facebook support group is dealing with this.
