Police nab Reston man in online child sex sting:

Police in Fairfax, Virginia have arrested Bao Duc Do of Reston, Va. for responding to a craigslist ad that was placed by Fairfax police. The problem with that is that the advertisement was an ad Fairfax police were using in a sting to flush out sexual predators.

The phony ad hinted that a man was willing to rent out his juvenile daughters for sex. When Mr. Do responded to the ad he discussed prices and terms with the ‘father’ of the girls. He negotiated a price of $150/hr. for an 11-year-old girl. When he was arrested at the pre-arranged meeting place he had $800 on him so he was planning on at least 5 hours with the girl.

What I’d like to know is how did the police department’s ad even make it on to craigslist. I thought craigslist users are supposed to flag any ad that may be for illegal activity. Again I ask how’s that working out?

Police arrest accused prostitute at motel:

What police believe may have been a disgruntled ‘customer’ dropped the dime on an alleged craigslist hooker in Somerset, Mass.

Police in Somerset arrested 43-year-old Nancy Cohen after receiving an anonymous tip.

I’m dying to know why the alleged john was ‘disgruntled’. For that matter can someone just be gruntled?

Thanks to Pedro for the tip.

Internet ads lead to prostitution charges:

I like how the website listed this as breaking news. Prostitution in Myrtle Beach? I’m shocked.

Anyway, police in Myrtle Beach arrested Judith O’Neal, 44, and Jennifer Carper, 22, on charges of craigslist prostitution.

The best part is that O’Neal agreed over the phone to spend time with 3 gentlemen for $200 a person. When arrested at the hotel she claimed she was just there to watch a football game with three guys.

Carper on the other hand just had a knife and a crack pipe.

It’s good to see those new craigslist measures to stop illegal activity are working. And by working I mean not working at all.

Craigslist crooks pull three stickups:

Police in Annapolis, Md. have arrested a juvenile that was allegedly involved in a series of craigslist related robberies.

The alleged crooks would advertise too good to be true deals on craigslist and when the buyers would show up they would end up being robbed.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for one Antonio E. Queen of Baltimore. He is still at large. A third suspect is also being sought but his identity has not been made public yet.

In one of the robberies the ad was for a gift card that was being ‘sold’ for substantially less than retail value. I never understood this one. If someone is selling a gift card on craigslist for less than retail it’s either a scam or it doesn’t exist.

Five armed men rob New Kensington woman:

A woman from the Pittsburgh area was robbed of money and jewelry by 5 shotgun toting men. The victim had put up her car for sale on craigslist. A woman had responded to the ad and when she went to go sell the car she met the woman who took the car for a test drive and that’s when the victim was robbed.

Woman trying to sell items online gets fake check, warns others:

A woman in Savannah, GA put her waterbed up for sale on craigslist for $250. She received fake checks for $1900 and $5000. Luckily she didn’t fall for the scam.

How Do I Stop a Cyberstalking Ex:

I get this question a lot actually. Someone sends me an e-mail saying that their ex or some other unscrupulous person is posting ads about them in craigslist’s erotic services section along with the victim’s personal information. Then they start getting all sorts of harassing phone calls and e-mails.

This article from PCMag lays out the steps you need to take to get the harassment to stop.

Alleged Prostitution Still Lingers On Craigslist:

Who thought it wasn’t going to?

Anyway police in Albuquerque arrested 26-year old Monica Ann Acosta in a craigslist hooker sting. She’s also been charged with cocaine possession.

Let’s hear from Nadine Hamby of the Albuquerque Police Department about craigslist alleged new measures to prevent prostitution…

“It would help our vice unit if they were able to monitor it just a little bit more,” she said. “And the person that was advertising on their Web site if they were able to look at what they were soliciting, and what they were selling, that would definitely help us.”

Or they could just do away with the erotic services section all together but we know that won’t happen. craigslist depends on it too much to drive traffic to their site.

Lesson: Don’t sell stolen items on Craigslist:

38-year-old Jason W. Davenport and his main squeeze 36-year-old Diane J. Lynch, both of Palatine, Ill., were arrested for selling stolen goods on craigslist. They had stolen two Playstations from Sears and tried selling them on craigslist.

Of course a Sears employee spotted the ad and the pair were arrested.

Police charge man in Craigslist bust:

Police in Murfreesboro, TN arrested 18-year-old Dominique Ellis North for selling stolen items on craigslist. One of the victims who had their stuff stolen noticed the item on craigslist who contacted police who in turn arrested North. Police recovered several high end electronics from North’s residence.

Man arrested in Plano for selling fake Cowboy tickets:

Police in Plano, TX have arrested James Grayson for selling phony Dallas Cowboy tickets on craigslist. It seems he was selling the same copies of some e-tickets to people. Including this past Saturday’s game against the Ravens which was the last Cowboys game played at Texas Stadium.

Man Who Was Left For Dead Shows His Injuries Reporting:

Previously I posted about the man from Colorado who was beaten and left for dead in a snow bank after responding to a craigslist ad for a dog kennel. Now an arrest has been made in the case.

Police arrested Michelle Huddleston of Thornton, CO. The suspect is alleged to have been beaten at her house.

Christopher Preston has also been arrested for the attack.
