Prostitute and pimp arrested after Craigslist.org sting:

You’d think they would catch on by now yet here we are…

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. Police orchestrated a sting Saturday night that resulted a dangerous, high-speed highway chase and in the arrest of a prostitute and pimp.
Authorities responded to postings on community Web site Craigslist.org last week and arranged for a prostitute to come to a Ramada Hotel. One women negotiated a price for sex with a detective.

Outside, uniformed police attempted to contact the driver of the car, a 22-year-old transient named Garrett Jon McGriff. McGriff fled in his Cadillac Deville (duh-VILL’).

A police chase ensued through the Sonoma County bedroom community of Rohnert (RONN’-urt) Park, with McGriff’s Cadillac reaching speeds of 95 miles per hour.

McGriff sideswiped at least four cars before jumping out of his moving vehicle. No one was injured.

A police dog tracked him down, and McGriff was arrested on charges of felony pimping, felony evading officers, hit and run, felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony possession of cocaine and transportation of cocaine, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.

The woman who negotiated for sex was jailed on a felony pimping charge.

A DeVille? Really? No wonder stereotypes get perpetuated.

In Massachusetts one Stephanie Fassnacht has been scamming people when they try to adopt kittens from her.

If you’re going to adopt a kitten I recommend going to your local pound or animal shelter rather than craigslist.

In New York City, City Hall is cracking down on deceptive ads for real estate.

It seems that craigslist is still a breeding ground for scam artists.

Feds Bust Craigslist Software Pirates:

Three alleged software pirates face criminal copyright infringement charges for selling illegal copies of popular software titles on Craigslist.

If convicted, the three New York-area men each face up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

All three are free on bail.

According to the Department of Justice (DoJ), Riddi Bajracharya, Blid Yesser and Rob Lnu sold illegal copies of Adobe Photoshop and Creative Suite, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Studio and Windows XP, among other titles, at steeply discounted prices.

Bajracharya, for instance, sold 11 titles to an FBI undercover agent for approximately $235 even though the titles retail for more than $5,000. Yesser sold 15 titles to another FBI agent for $90 that retail for about $2,500.

Lnu offered the deepest discounts, selling 18 titles worth $9,900 for only $45.

In each case, the defendants supplied a file with the software that contained the serial numbers for the program.

Yesser went so far as to warn the undercover agent not to register the titles with the manufacturer. Instead, he told the agent how to install the software using “cracked keys” that came with the title.

Cracked software has been stripped of its internal copyright protections.

The DoJ said in a statement Yesser also told the agent he worked with a group in Romania that cracked software and that “he could get anything.”

In selling his illegal software, Lnu told an undercover agent his titles required not only the serial numbers he provided but also a key generator used to gain unauthorized access to a software title.

“I spoke to a representative of Macromedia and provided the serial numbers for the Macromedia products (Lnu) sold and was informed by the representative that these serial numbers were pirated and not generated by Macromedia,” the undercover agent stated in a deposition.

Craigslist should really change their name to Black Market.

I-TEAM: Police search for suspect in Craigslist prostitution ring:

BOULDER – Jeffrey Bagnall had a plan, detectives say: to run the most successful prostitution ring in the country.

It’s always nice to have goals.

Toward that end, the 35-year-old Bagnall carefully logged expenses such as cell phones and room rentals, brainstormed marketing ideas on how to lure older male clients and consulted industry advice from books, such as, “Pimp Game, The Instructional Guide.”

For more than a year, Bagnall was on his way, police said, advertising for free on Craigslist and pocketing about $2,000 a month from his 30 percent cut from the prostitutes who worked for him.

According to police, that’s when Bagnall moved his base of operations into a quiet, close-knit East Boulder cul-de-sac – and his plan collapsed.

Now, Boulder police have issued a warrant for Bagnall’s arrest on charges that include pimping and keeping a place of prostitution.

While authorities search for Bagnall, who has apparently skipped town, they are quick to credit the townhome’s residents for their part in bringing down his business.

On Aug. 24, undercover detectives obtained a search warrant for Bagnall’s home, finding cash, empty condom boxes, child pornography,, notes documenting his business plan and ledgers of his clients’ names and phone numbers, police said.

This week, a judge issued a warrant for Bagnall’s arrest. His former neighbors said they couldn’t be happier.

Anyone with information on Jeffrey Bagnall is encouraged to call the Boulder Police Department at 303-441-3333.

Don’t ever try bringing that stuff into suburbia. Short of pitchforks and torches the neighbors will run you out.
